PMC
PMC is a UK based, world-leading manufacturer of professional monitor and audiophile speaker systems. PMC designs feature its uniquely engineered Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) technology, which provides a near identical, high resolution, wide bandwidth signal response across the complete product range. Proprietary drive units, electronics and cabinet engineering, provide unrivalled tonal accuracy, clarity and dynamic range throughout a range of designs, extending from the world’s smallest ATL™ design, the DB1i, to large scale active control room monitoring systems such as the flagship BB5-XBD-A. PMC monitor systems are in service with most of the world’s premiere music and film sound recording studios, broadcast companies, post production and audio mastering facilities. HISTORY Founded in 1990 by Peter Thomas of the BBC and Adrian Loader of FWO Bauch. The combination of knowledge and a life-long passion for the music led to the production of PMC’s first product, the BB5-A, an active main studio monitor. This design was snapped up by the BBC Maida Vale and Metropolis Mastering and remains the world’s reference, used by Prince, Stevie Wonders Wonderland Studio, Hospital HDTV Broadcast London and for renowned classical labels such as Decca and Harmonia Mundi. Many of today’s movie themes have been crafted using PMC, from such eminent composers as Henry Jackman, Tyler Bates and John Debney. PMC are one of the very few companies who have been awarded an Emmy® for their contribution to recording excellence. With film, it would be easier to list the blockbuster movies which did not use PMC during the process of music production and post! But titles include: Titanic, Mission Impossible, Iron Man 2, Jarhead, Die Another Day, Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean. PMC reigns supreme throughout the leading mastering houses, broadcasters and much of the professional world. They believe a good loudspeaker should be able to relay the purest intentions of the artist without colouration. PHILOSOPHY PMC’s design philosophy is quite a simple one, to design the ideal monitoring solution with the highest resolution possible without colouration and distortion. This supreme level of resolution is derived through unequalled R&D into (ATL™) Advanced Transmission Line Loudspeaker design and drive unit technology. Also PMC’s close association with principle engineers has allowed development of innovative solution for the latest recording techniques and changing monitoring environments. The design team have a clear vision of what must be achieved therefore all of the PMC range is voiced identically, from the DB1 through to the BB5-XBD-A.. The balance is neutral and dynamic with wide dispersion, making image placement pin point over a huge listening window. The PMC user is one which is pioneering in their field and will not settle for less than the best.
